
This safety helmet concept explores the future use of Augmented Reality (AR) in a digitalized and connected mining environment.
The helmet is part of a system of connected vehicles and "waypoints" underground, aimed at improving working conditions and optimizing processes.
The helmet offers several benefits:
Dust and Heat Protection:
It enhances working conditions by providing dust protection and reducing heat exposure.
Process Optimization:
Sensors and measurements accurately determine and display drilling positions.
Holographic Display:
Camera feeds are shown as holograms in the loader's cockpit to facilitate maneuvering in tight tunnels.
Improved Coordination:
The personal assignment of interior helmets to workers allows for more flexible and efficient communication.
Emergency Management:
In case of an emergency, the safest escape route to the nearest assembly point is displayed.
The helmet is composed of two main parts: the technical outer helmet and the personal inner helmet. At the start of work, the inner helmet is connected to the outer helmet. This allows for the continuous use of the technology while minimizing investment costs.
The design concept was developed as part of the Technical Design course at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
